Bluzgier
drop front; an old term for a piece of fabric sewn onto the front of a dress or żupan, made from the same material as the main garment. It was removable, thus protecting the fabric of a dress; a type of a decorative bib completing the front of a dress. Bluzgier and palatynka, like other accessories adding elegance and refinement to women’s dresses, frequently appeared in purchase orders made by ladies to merchants. Zofia Maria Denhoff née Sieniawska, Mrs Voivode of Połock, bought “three fashionable bluzgiers with palatynka” from Andrea Contessa’s store in Wroclaw.
