Broderowanie, broszowanie
brocading, lampas; a type of fabric decoration known in Europe since the Middle Ages. The motif was created by introducing a supplementary weft, running within the desired pattern. The wefts were cut at the edges of the pattern or turned back, giving the impression that the pattern was embroidered. It gave an interesting effect, saved expensive thread and reduced the weight of fabric. The technique was also used mainly in silk fabrics such as brocade.
