Wyderkaf

(ger. Wiederkauf) – repurchase; sale with the right of repurchase. In the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, it was the most common form of a credit contract used to circumvent ecclesiastical prohibitions on the collection of interest, which was charged in the form of rent on property sold ostensibly with the right of repurchase. Numerous examples of such operations and contracts can be found in documents from magnate and noble courts.
